        Software Engineer – Database

        Systems
        Hyderabad

We are seeking an experienced Lead Database Administrator (DBA) with deep expertise across relational, document, in-memory, and analytical database systems to join our firm’s Database and Reporting Engineering (DBRE) team in Hyderabad. The DBRE team owns the architecture, design, and strategy for the firm’s database and reporting platforms, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and secure for diverse business and analytical needs.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

You will be responsible for PostgreSQL database performance analysis, query tuning, and optimization in a Kubernetes-based deployment environment. You will work on architecture, design, and development of PostgreSQL solutions orchestrated via Kubernetes, often using Helm charts or operators. You will work with the application engineering team to provide optimal Kubernetes database setups, including resource allocation, storage configuration, and networking. You will develop and maintain optimal PostgreSQL configurations (memory settings, parallelism, autovacuum tuning, connection pooling, etc.) tailored for Kubernetes environments. You will plan and implement disaster recovery strategies, high-availability replication, and failover solutions. You will collaborate with application developers to design efficient schemas, indexing strategies, and data access patterns. You will manage database schema changes and migrations using tools such as Liquibase or Flyway, integrated into CI/CD pipelines. You will perform database performance analysis and query tuning using EXPLAIN/ANALYZE, pg_stat_statements, auto_explain, and Kubernetes-native monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.). You will troubleshoot issues across query, schema, and infrastructure layers, including pod-level resource constraints. You will also ensure database security in Kubernetes by managing roles, privileges, TLS encryption, and secrets handling. You will monitor and optimize PostgreSQL performance for large datasets and high-throughput workloads. Additionally, you will mentor and guide engineering teams on best practices in multi-platform database design, operations, and optimization.

        Who we’re looking for

        Basic qualifications:

        • A Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another technical discipline, with 7+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL database administration experience, including performance tuning, security hardening, and PL/pgSQL scripting
        • Skills in implementing HA/DR solutions using streaming replication, Patroni, and repmgr
        • Robust understanding of running PostgreSQL on containerized and cloud-native platforms using Kubernetes
        • Proficiency in infrastructure design, HA/DR with Postgres operators or managed services, and integration with Kubernetes tools for optimization and scalability
        • 7+ years of performance tuning and query optimization experience using EXPLAIN/EXPLAIN ANALYZE, pg_stat_statements, auto_explain, pgBadger, Kubernetes-native monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana), and pod-level resource analysis
        • Proven ability to work with large data sets and design scalable PostgreSQL solutions optimized for containerized deployments
        • 4+ years of experience collaborating closely with application developers to implement efficient database designs, indexing strategies, and query optimization, while also integrating CI/CD pipelines for database changes in Kubernetes environments
        •

        Preferred qualifications:

        • Experience with Windows Server or Linux OS administration, including performance monitoring, security hardening, and troubleshooting
        • Familiarity with Kubernetes for container orchestration and deployment of database/analytics workloads
        • Knowledge of modern data lake architectures, hybrid transactional/analytical processing (HTAP) systems, and cloud-native database services
        • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools for database performance and health (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
        • Working knowledge of at least one programming language used for datadriven applications (e.g., Python, C#, Golang or Java)
