Senior Manager – Middle Office (Trade Support) – Financial Operations

        Financial Operations
        Hyderabad, Bengaluru or Gurugram

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join its growing Middle Office function in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Gurugram, India. This team supports the lifecycle of the firm's global trading strategies and serves as a key link between the front office and operational teams. This desk-coverage role offers the opportunity to act as the primary operational partner to the firm's trading desks, drive trade support across asset classes, and contribute to process improvements in a collaborative, forward-thinking, and inclusive environment. This position will initially be an individual contributor role, with the potential to assume people management responsibilities in the future based on business needs and the candidate's interest.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

In this role, you will act as a point of contact for trading desk inquiries, supporting and coordinating post-trade operations across multiple asset classes and strategies. You will oversee the trade lifecycle from execution through settlement, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all trade events—including trade capture, P&L, security master, settlements, and corporate actions. You will partner with trading desks, technology, and operations to enhance operational processes, controls, and data quality, and to mitigate risk. You will develop workflows, dashboards, and tools to monitor trading activity, ensure knowledge continuity, and improve operational efficiency. You will coordinate closely with front office, back office, and external counterparties to promptly resolve operational, settlement, or reconciliation issues. You will also contribute to and coordinate technology projects that expand middle office capabilities and enhance the firm's ability to seamlessly support new investment strategies or asset classes.

        Who we’re looking for

The ideal candidate should hold —
        Basic qualifications:

        • A postgraduate degree and 8+ years of relevant experience across the trade lifecycle, including time in or alongside middle office functions
        • An excellent understanding of trade lifecycle operations, including trade capture, P&L, security master, settlement, and corporate actions
        • Demonstrated experience managing front office inquiries and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to resolve operational issues
        • Exceptional communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail, with a keen desire to grow and take ownership in a dynamic setting
        • The ability to design or contribute to dashboards and analytics for operational insight

        Preferred qualifications:

        • Familiarity with financial software such as Bloomberg, S&P Global Market Intelligence (formerly IHS Markit), CTM, or Capital IQ
        • Experience with automation and hands-on familiarity with emerging GenAI and LLM tooling, with the ability to identify and apply these pragmatically within middle office workflows.
        • Exposure to a range of hedge fund asset classes and an understanding of how they behave across their lifecycle

Candidates with relevant experience looking to restart their careers after a break are encouraged to apply for this position.
