        Principal Manager, Tech (HCDev)

        Core Tech
        Hyderabad, Bengaluru or Gurugram

We are looking for an engineering manager to join our Human Capital Development (HC Dev) team based in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Gurugram. HC Dev builds and operates the core platforms and data systems that support how the firm hires, assesses, develops, and retains its people. We are in the midst of a broader evolution of these platforms, spanning their data foundations and use of AI, creating significant opportunities to shape their architecture, technical direction, and future.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

In this role, you will lead an engineering team with ownership of its technical direction and delivery. You will work closely with other engineering managers and senior engineers across HC Dev, shape the roadmap in partnership with the business, drive architecture and engineering quality, and develop the engineers on your team. You will lead the design and delivery of web applications, data platforms, and supporting infrastructure, working closely with business stakeholders and product managers. You will set the technical direction for the systems your team owns, working with senior engineers and leads to drive architecture, key design decisions, and engineering quality. The team’s technology stack includes Java/Spring, React/TypeScript, SQL Server, and Python. You will manage a team of engineers, including senior engineers and leads, with responsibility for performance, career growth, and team effectiveness. You will shape the roadmap for your area with business leadership and product managers, and own planning, estimation, capacity planning, and scope management while navigating delivery risks, trade-offs, and escalations independently. You will remain close to design and development, guiding the team on engineering best practices and providing technical leadership on complex, high-impact problems. You will mentor engineers on both technology and domain aspects to support their growth and development.

        • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field, with 8 to 11 years of relevant experience
        • Robust software design and architecture experience, with sound judgment on trade-offs involving scalability, availability, security, and maintainability
        • Experience managing and developing engineers, including providing feedback, coaching, and supporting career growth
        • Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders, shape requirements and technical direction, build alignment, and handle escalations independently
        • Solid software engineering background across web applications, backend services, or data-intensive systems, with experience building and operating production systems at scale
        • Proven experience delivering complex projects end to end, including planning, estimation, execution, and course correction
        • Robust problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on engineering quality and sound technical judgment
        • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders

        Preferred Qualifications:

        • Experience engineering production AI systems, including retrieval, agentic workflows, tool use, model orchestration, and integration with enterprise data and services
        • Experience taking AI capabilities from prototype to production, including evaluation, observability, reliability, and operating these systems as models and underlying dependencies evolve
