Manager/Senior Manager – The Office of Operating Committee (DESIS Management)

Office of the OC (Operating Committee)
        Hyderabad

We are looking for an intellectually curious, tech-savvy, and highly articulate professional for the Office of the Operating Committee (OC) to join our firm’s office in Hyderabad, India. D. E. Shaw India (DESIS) is led by a two-member Operating Committee and the OC works collectively to manage day-to-day operations and chart the strategic course for the firm. This collaborative leadership model sets us apart and reflects our core principles.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

You will support the OC Chief of Staff in program managing firmwide goals — planning, tracking milestones, and reporting progress in a structured and periodic manner — while establishing rapport and coordinating with senior business unit heads across India and the firm's global offices on strategic priorities and action items. In this role, you will research and synthesize data from disparate sources to develop recommendations, apply quantitative and financial modelling skills and leveraging technology — including Gen AI tools and, where relevant, code — to automate workflows, build analytical tools, and improve the efficiency and quality of outputs. Additionally, you will produce high-quality written materials including business proposals, firmwide communications, blogs, and quarterly and semi-annual reports, while also maintaining the OC's internal knowledge repository, ensuring accurate version control, archiving, and accessibility of reports, presentations, and data insights.

        Who we’re looking for

        Basic qualifications:

        • A bachelor's degree (MBA preferred) and 5-10 years of professional experience, with the maturity to respect and adhere to the highest ethical and confidentiality standards
        • Exceptional analytical foundation — comfortable building models, working with data, and translating quantitative findings into clear recommendations
        • The ability to demonstrate experience in financial modelling and the ability to structure a cost-benefit analysis independently without deferring to specialists
        • Genuine, practiced fluency with Gen AI tools as a core daily productivity multiplier — for research, writing, analysis, and problem-solving
        • The ability to use Gen AI for scripting or coding to build lightweight tools, automate repetitive workflows, and improve the quality and speed of output
        • The comfortability with prompt engineering — able to craft precise, effective prompts that produce reliable outputs and critically interrogate AI-generated content rather than accepting it at face value; familiar with agentic AI workflows, able to define goals for an AI agent, review and improve its outputs, and delegate multi-step tasks to AI-assisted pipelines without needing engineering support
        • The ability to design and deploy simple agentic workflows — for example, chaining tools or AI steps to automate multi-stage processes such as research synthesis, report generation, or data monitoring — and to build reusable, context-rich AI workspace environments for recurring tasks
        • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce detailed proposals, crisp executive-facing documents, and clear firmwide articles, calibrating tone and depth across audiences from the OC to all-staff
        • The skill to be adept at context-switching across multiple projects with volatile priorities — organized, structured, and reliable, with a reputation for owning work and seeing it through; comfortable operating behind the scenes in support of senior leadership while building solid relationships across levels
        • Exceptional analytical and communication skills with hands-on command of Gen AI tools
        • The ability to be self-assured, collaborative, and comfortable operating with volatility, ambiguity, and shifting priorities
