        Senior Data Analyst - Futures

        Front Office Tech
        Hyderabad, Bengaluru or Gurugram

We are seeking an experienced data engineer to join our Futures team in the D. E. Shaw India offices in Hyderabad / Gurugram. The Futures India team builds data pipelines, software, and datasets that are used directly in simulation, forecasting, and trading. The accuracy, completeness, and consistency of this data is critical to our strategies. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with data, has a robust analytical background, and wants their work to have a direct impact on quantitative research and production trading.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

In this role, you will own the data quality backbone for futures research and trading, run and build processes for data quality checks on key time series datasets and detect statistical insights or anomalies. You will support new instrument and dataset onboarding by validating historical coverage, reconciling multiple sources, and documenting data quirks and limitations. You will conduct cross source reconciliation by comparing internal datasets with external vendor feeds, identifying systematic differences, and working with developers and vendor/data teams to resolve them. You will assist with migration and shadow checks by validating old vs new datasets during infrastructure or schema changes and summarizing discrepancies. You will act as a first point of contact for data questions, working closely with developers and communicating with quants and operations to understand data requirements, triage issues, and provide timely, well explained analysis, and you will maintain clear documentation and standard operating procedures for recurring workflows. You will primarily use Python and statistical methods to analyze and validate data, partnering with developers (who own production systems and code) and collaborating with quants and operations to ensure our datasets are fit for research and live trading.

        Who we’re looking for

        Basic qualifications:

        • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field
        • 2–6 years of relevant experience in a data analyst, data engineer, or similar role involving substantial hands-on work with numerical or time series datasets
        • Robust hands-on experience using Python and modern data analysis libraries to work with large tabular and time series data, including efficient data manipulation and visualization
        • Solid applied statistics skills for real world data analysis
        • High attention to detail and a exceptional focus on data accuracy and consistency
        • Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a range of stakeholders

        Preferred qualifications:

        • Experience reconciling data from multiple sources and producing clear QA or reconciliation reports
        • Prior exposure to financial data (such as prices, volumes, returns, or other market data) and an interest in deepening your understanding of financial markets and derivatives
        • Comfort with basic command line tools and version control (for example: Git) for managing analysis scripts and notebooks

Candidates with relevant experience looking to restart their careers after a break are encouraged to apply for this position.
