        Analyst/Senior Analyst - D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (CAD Design Engineer)

        Join our Financial Research team in Hyderabad

        We are looking for a resourceful candidate to join D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (“DESRI”), based at the firm’s office in Hyderabad, India. The candidate will be part of DESRI’s Design and Engineering team and will regularly interact with U.S. and Hyderabad-based teams, as well as external parties. DESRI develops, acquires, builds, owns, and operates solar and wind renewable energy generation facilities in the U.S.A. DESRI currently owns, operates, or has an exclusivity agreement or signed purchase and sale agreement in place with respect to more than 8.7 GW of solar and wind assets in the U.S. across 80+ projects. DESRI is run by a dynamic team and is headquartered in New York, with offices located in Boston, Denver, and Hyderabad (India).

        What you’ll do day-to-day

        In this role, you will actively work on preparing detailed plant layouts and SLDs for utility-scale projects. You will be expected to understand the site layout and provide relevant suggestions and inputs to optimize the layout. You will prepare a detailed constraints map based on different GIS sources and compile them together to obtain the buildable area. You will run multiple iterations of layouts in PVCase or similar tools, utilizing various combinations of plant components, and provide an analysis of the optimal layout. You will also be required to analyze the impact of varied setbacks in the areas of interest as well as understand the impact of parameters such as topo, shading, and constraints while estimating the production. Additionally, you will provide preliminary layouts, typical diagrams, and design packages to the development team for the application process. Furthermore, you will work proactively with several teams, including the development team, EPCs, financing, technical teams, and other stakeholders, on CAD layouts and suggest design changes for new utility-scale solar projects.

        Who we’re looking for

        • The ideal candidate should have a B.Tech. degree in any discipline with 2-4 years of experience in CAD for the design of solar plant
        • Candidates possessing hands-on experience in creating detailed design sets, related calculations, and organizing related documentation will have an added advantage
        • The candidate should have the ability to communicate in a well-structured manner and should possess the design aptitude to understand and simplify problem statements
        • Candidates with experience in PVCase or PVCAD are encouraged to apply, while experience in AutoCAD 3D and Civil 3D is a must
        • The candidate should have a functional understanding of solar PV plants, modules, inverters, trackers, and racking
        • Candidate should be skilled and accurate in high-pressure situations and work with different stakeholders, requesting information based on the design created
        • The candidate should be experienced in working with CAD plugins, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Google Earth, QGIS, and ArcGIS-based tools, as well as the import and export of different formats of files used
        • Candidate should have the ability to work on multiple types of Detailed Drawings required for Permit Application
