Join our Front Office Tech team in Hyderabad, Bengaluru or Gurugram

We are looking for an experienced software developer to join the DESIM team at the D. E. Shaw India office based in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Gurugram. The D. E. Shaw Investment Management (DESIM) group was founded in 2005. The DESIM group focuses on developing active equity and multi-asset class investment strategies by identifying market inefficiencies and constructing optimal portfolios. Collaborating with our New York teams, the DESIM India team plays a crucial role in the development of software and quantitative tools for portfolio strategy, trading, quant research, and portfolio management. The performance and quality of these tools are crucial to the firm's business strategy. At DESIM, our development team works seamlessly with Quants, who extensively research and model forecasts for systematic strategies. Our primary business objectives include the development and design of scalable, high-performing data APIs in support of our Quant research, conducting data trials to assess the viability and effectiveness of new datasets, and aiming to enhance the working experience for our Quants for efficient research. Upholding the highest standards of data quality and efficiently managing our data infrastructure are also part of our core responsibilities.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

In this position, you will work closely with our New York business team to design, maintain, and develop software tools and financial datasets for DESIM. You will handle big data optimization, perform data analytics, design scalable libraries, and ensure data quality and compliance. You will also lead project execution in an agile environment, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and gain exposure to the trading business and technology in a leading financial firm. You will be expected to develop proficiency in Python and associated libraries, gain comprehensive financial knowledge, and understand DESIM's data infrastructure. Additionally, you will conduct independent data trials and analysis, suggest improvements in quant workflows, and deliver thoroughly tested, high-performance data APIs. Applying your quantitative and analytical skills, you will solve complex data problems and enhance existing data infrastructure and workflows. You will also be expected to mentor junior developers effectively, foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, and increase their productivity and code quality. Furthermore, building an exceptional rapport with Quants through effective communication and collaboration on projects is also essential, with success measured by interaction quality, feedback, and successful project implementation.
